Dental funding getting plenty of airplay in lead up to Federal Election


Oral health and dental funding have been receiving some attention as we move closer to a Federal election announcement. The media coverage started with The Australian Greens’ announcement of their new dental policy which promises to invest $5.8 billion to provide Medicare-funded dental care to all young people, aged pensioners and anyone receiving Commonwealth funded benefits.

Practice ordered to pay $40,000 compo bill to worker fired for alleged embezzlement


A small dentistry business who fired a practice manager for allegedly embezzling money has been ordered to pay her $40,000 in compensation after a successful Fair Work Commission (FWC) appeal. In a case heard by the commission in Sydney yesterday, Hurstville-based Mastery Dental was decided to have unfairly dismissed the worker and must pay the compo bill within 14 days.

Australian Aged Dental Care, which trades as Australian Mobile Dental Care, was one of 56 practices acquired by Smiles Inclusive in a joint venture in April last year when mobile clinics were brought under the brand Smiles OnSite.
