Wire from dental braces worn 10 years ago removed from woman's bowel in emergency surgery


Surgeons have removed a piece of orthodontic wire from a Perth woman's abdomen, 10 years after she stopped wearing braces and who had no memory of ever swallowing it.

The 30-year-old went to the emergency department at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Nedlands several months ago complaining of severe abdominal pain.
