Dentists demand progress on national oral health plan, as untreated tooth decay plagues one in three


Dentists say one-third of adults are experiencing tooth decay, with many patients also citing an inability to afford dentistry. Dozens of dentists are at Parliament House in Canberra to warn politicians that delayed dental issues become worse and more expensive to treat.

Private health insurers access patients' full medical records in 'aggressive' audits


Health insurers are entitled to ask a medical practitioner for a patient's notes to ensure the correct procedure item numbers have been billed. However, hospitals and allied health providers are raising concerns about insurers asking providers for their patients' full clinical history. The private health insurance industry says it has a responsibility to ensure claims are legitimate, and payment audits ae part of that.
