Extra 2500 dental patients tested for HIV, hepatitis after clinic closure delay


A 16-month delay in closing a Brisbane dental clinic resulted in an additional 2500 patients needing to be tested for a series of blood-borne diseases, including hepatitis C and HIV. Overall, 5100 patients at Carina's Gap Free Smiles have had to be tested, but authorities insist none were infected.

Senate Inquiry into private health: Dentists make their voices heard


With the deadline for submissions now passed, The Senate Community Affairs Committee Inquiry into the Value and affordability of private health insurance and out of pocket medical costs has moved onto its next phase: taking further oral evidence from selected witnesses and organisations such as the ADA at public hearings during late August and September. The Committee is due to table its report on the Inquiry to Parliament on 27 November.
