NSW Government suspends dentist, warns patients they could have bloodborne viruses


The New South Wales Government has warned decades worth of patients at a dental surgery in Sydney's inner-west they could have been infected with bloodborne viruses. Dr James Pok-Yan Ng was suspended last month after his cleaning and sterilisation practices in Haberfield breached Australian Dental Guidelines.

Victorians wait years for dental check-ups


Some Victorians have had a toothache for up to four years waiting for publicly-funded general dental treatment. The Australian Dental Association Victorian Branch on Tuesday released its data, obtained under Freedom of Information, which reveals the longest wait time for general dental treatment was 48 months.

An Australian dentist and a small group of volunteers have managed to check more than 1,200 mouths in just two weeks on Timor Leste. That amounted to 527 extractions and 406 fillings for Charmaine White, from Narooma on the New South Wales south coast, and her volunteers.
