COVID-19 restrictions lead to poorer oral health and long-term problems


A new study published today by the University of Melbourne and the eviDent Foundation highlights the impact that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on the provision of dental care to vulnerable children in Australia who already experience higher levels of dental disease and disadvantage in accessing dental care.

Revised advertising guidelines come into effect 14 December 2020


Effective Monday 14th December, the revised Guidelines for advertising a regulated health service come into effect. The National Boards and the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra), have noted that the revised guidelines, which are the result of a consultation process to which the ADA contributed, are intended to clearly explain how advertising for a regulated health service should be conducted.

The nation’s dentists urge PM to include dentistry in aged care boost


Without the inclusion of dental care in this week’s round of funding to the aged care sector, the Australian Dental Association (ADA) says the care for the nation’s growing seniors population will be drastically incomplete. Incoming ADA President Dr Mark Hutton says that while the Prime Minister’s $1 billion injection into the aged care system announced this week is welcome, without including access to dental care it’s not going to provide the necessary care to ensure senior’s oral health is addressed.

Coronavirus spread during dental procedures could be reduced with slower drill rotation
