BGH's Abano swoops on Bupa NZ dental biz


BGH Capital’s trans-Tasman dental roll up Abano Healthcare has bolstered its No.1 market position in New Zealand, securing a deal to acquire Bupa NZ’s dental business...BGH started with NZ-listed Abano Healthcare, which owned Lumino in New Zealand and Maven Dental in Australia, in 2020, before adding Australia’s 1300 Smiles Ltd and its 34 practices last year. ... more than 250 practices and contract more than 1000 dentists post the Bupa NZ deal, which makes it one of the largest dental support groups across both countries.

New course to put dentists on the frontline in managing sleep issues


Dental health professionals interested in treating patients with sleep-related disorders such as snoring and obstructive sleep apnoea are encouraged to sign up for a new micro-credential course at The University of Western Australia. The innovative online course, which begins on 14 February, has been developed by Associate Professor Christopher Pantin, a dentist with a special interest in treating snoring and obstructive sleep apnoea, and the team at the UWA Centre for Sleep Science and is described as a ‘game changer’.
