Sugar tax could save nation millions and fund dental care, study finds


A 20 per cent national sugar tax could save Australia more than $60 million over 10 years, increase health equity and prevent more than 500,000 dental cavities, according to new research. Tan Nguyen, study author and Monash University School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine PhD candidate, said the sugar tax study has taken six years.

Rural kids all smiles as mobile dental van comes to school


Kids in regional and remote Northern NSW communities will have a faster and more convenient trip to the dentist, thanks to a new mobile dental van operating in the region. Minister for Regional Health Ryan Park said the dental van is expected to provide preventive dental care and treatment for hundreds of school children this year.
