Bundaberg Oral Health Service shuts for 14 days after positive COVID-19 test


The Bundaberg Oral Health Service will be shut down for 14 days and dozens of its staff have gone into home quarantine after a dental assistant tested positive for coronavirus. The 48-year-old woman, who had returned to Bundaberg from Indonesia, was among 11 new cases diagnosed in Queensland on Saturday – the biggest increase in the state’s COVID-19 tally in a single day.

A western Sydney fake dentist has been fined $38,000 for a botched root canal - the second time he has been slugged by the medical industry watchdog. Ouch: Patients prescribed opioids after tooth extraction report worse pain


The use of opioids to soothe the pain of a pulled tooth could be drastically reduced or eliminated altogether from dentistry, say University of Michigan researchers. More than 325 dental patients who had teeth pulled were asked to rate their pain and satisfaction within six months of extraction. Roughly half of the study's patients who had surgical extraction and 39% who had routine extraction were prescribed opioids.
