Another Federal Budget that ignores oral health


The government has delivered their budget for FY21-22 and overall it was a disappointing result for those in the community who need greater access to oral health care. On the positive side, there was one announcement in relation to dental schemes. The age for eligibility under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) has been extended to children under the age of two to help children form a positive relationship with dentists earlier in life.

A Sydney dentist has been stripped of his registration after performing surgery on a patient while his genitals were exposed. Peter Carr unsuccessfully tried to have his registration suspended rather than cancelled...Dr Carr will not be able to apply for a review of the decision for one year.

Sydney dental practice operator penalised


The Federal Circuit Court has imposed a $6,000 penalty against Available Dental Care Pty Ltd and $1,400 against Doctor Seyed Shahabeddin Lajevardi, also known as Shaun Lajevardi, the company’s director. The penalties were imposed in response to Dr Lajevardi breaching the Fair Work Act by failing to comply with a Compliance Notice requiring him to calculate and back-pay entitlements owing to three workers.
