Vaping for just a few months puts young, healthy people at risk of oral health problems including gum disease and cancer, study shows


Vaping for only a short period of time, just a handful of months, can lead to the development of dangerous bacteria linked to significant health problems such as gum disease and even oral cancer. Bacteria thrives in the mouth of vapers and includes various infection-causing microbes similar to those found in the mouths of periodontitis sufferers.

BGH Capital dodges a bullet in dentistry


Private equity firm BGH Capital dodged a short-term bullet when a $278 million buyout deal for trans-Tasman dentistry giant Abano was terminated on March 30 because of a ''material adverse change'' as COVID-19 swept through. The buyout, in combination with the Ontario Teachers Pension Plan Board, was nearing its final stages after being announced in early November, and would have given them control of 114 dental practices in Australia trading under the Maven brand, and 120 under the Lumino banner in New Zealand.
