AHPRA acts quickly as unregistered ‘dentist’ is convicted


A New South Wales man was today convicted and fined $11,250 for falsely representing that he was authorised or qualified to practise as a dentist and $18,750 for performing restricted dental acts. He was also ordered to pay approximately $19,950 in costs. Mr Majid Rahebi was convicted in the Local Court of New South Wales after pleading guilty to all charges.

Thousands of young children suffering serious tooth decay, Queensland Health report reveals


Tens of thousands of Queensland children have rotten teeth by school age, a new report into public oral health care has found. The data, released by Queensland Health, looked at the 130,000 children aged between five and 14 who accessed publicly funded dental care in 2016/17. It revealed more than half of the children had a history of tooth decay, with almost one in four suffering decay in at least four teeth.

National Dental IPO pulled: sources


Private equity-owned dental roll-up National Dental Care's mooted sharemarket listing has been pulled. Fund managers were told on Tuesday afternoon that the initial public offering had been delayed until next year. It came as stockbroker Wilsons ran an IPO bookbuild that was slated to close on Tuesday. National Dental Care, which is owned by Crescent Capital, is expected to spend the next few months making bolt-on acquisitions before another attempt to list.
