Dental restrictions in Victoria easing from 28 September


Following the media coverage on this issue over the weekend, letters to the Premier, Health Minister and Chief Health Officer on Monday, and meetings and discussion with key independent members of parliament over the last few days, the government has announced today that dentists in metropolitan Melbourne will move to ADA Level 2 dental restrictions from 28 September, and to Level 1 dental restrictions from 26 October. This means that dentists will be able to resume non-urgent procedures including routine examinations, restorative treatment and orthodontic care according to the Level 2 dental restriction guidelines.

Dentists could help with vaccinations


Dentists are calling for Australia’s immunisation program to be expanded to allow them to vaccinate patients against diseases such influenza and the human papilloma virus, as well as COVID 19 when vaccine finally becomes available. A survey conducted by the Australasian Academy of Dento Facial Aesthetics (AADFA) revealed over 95 per cent of dentists believe they should be able to discuss vaccination with their patients.
